Adelaide University - National Centre for Petroleum Geology & Geophysics
http://www.ncpgg.adelaide.edu.au/ncpgg.html
"The NCPGG is one of a number of Key Centres established in 1985, by the Commonwealth Government of Australia, to promote excellence in scientific teaching and research. It is a co-operative venture between The University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia. The NCPGG is a partner in an unincorporated venture withthe CSIRO Division of Petroleum Resources (DPR), the Centre for Petroleum Engineering at the University of New South Wales (CPE) and Curtin University. This venture, the Australian Petroleum Cooperative Research Centre (APCRC), is funded by Federal and State Governments and the petroleum industry. The APCRC carries out advanced research on behalf of the petroleum industry covering all facets of petroleum geology, geophysics, geochemistry and engineering. The NCPGG is responsible for the activities of the APCRC related to Basin Analysis.
The main objectives of the NCPGG are: to train students for a career in petroleum exploration; to perform research relevant to the industry; to foster cooperation between industry, academia and government."
Boise State University - Center for Geophysical Investigation of the Shallow Subsurface
http://kihei.idbsu.edu/
"The Center for Geophysical Investigation of the Shallow Subsurface (CGISS) at Boise State University (BSU) was established in July 1991 to focus graduate geophysical research on the fundamental geological processes that occur in the upper part of the Earth's crust. CGISS research is aimed at geophysical applications related to hydrogeologic, engineering, and environmental problems."
California Institute of Technology - Hawaii Scientific Drilling Project
http://expet.gps.caltech.edu/Hawaii_project.html
"Hawaii Scientific Drilling Project--HSDP has drilled a 1056 m hole in Hilo, Hawaii, retrieving rocks from the Hawaiian volcanoes Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea. You can now access from this page a complete lithologic core log and photographs of each box of core and of thin-sections of most units. This information can be used by investigators to find areas of interest for possible sampling. We also add pointers to data at remote sites as it is contributed by project investigators."
California Institute of Technology - Mineral Spectroscopy Server
http://minerals.gps.caltech.edu/
"This server provides information about mineralogy and is primarily dedicated to providing information about color in minerals and access to data on Mineral Absorption Spectra in the visible and infrared regions of the spectrum. Most data on the server were obtained in the Caltech mineral spectroscopy labs. Other spectroscopic data on minerals will also be available . Visible, near-infrared and infrared absorption spectra are available for a number of minerals. Examples include common rock-forming minerals, gem minerals, and other minerals of particular interest."
CLAROM
http://www.clarom.com/
"CLAROM is a group of research Organizations, oil Companies and offshore equipment and service Companies that are jointly determined to pursue an R&D program aiming at a better understanding of the behavior of offshore structures, and at improved engineering design methods."
College of Petroleum and Energy Studies
http://www.colpet.ac.uk/
"The College of Petroleum and Energy Studies is an independent institution based in Oxford, offering a comprehensive range of management, economics and business courses for professional and managerial staff working in the international oil, gas, petrochemical and energy industries. Founded in 1982, The College has established itself as a leading international centre for the provision of flexible training courses and Continuing Professional Development programmes. The College is recognised in the UK by The British Accreditation Council. Management of the Oil, Gas and Energy industries is complex, capital intensive and highly technical. Changes in environmental regulations, technology and know-how, combined with the need for developing managerial, technical and economic skills requires professional high-quality training."
